Ducats question

A quick question...a friend has a 1915 Austrian Ducat...wants 75 bucks. I've seen it; it's shiny and in great shape. I know it's not stolen.
Good deal? I know nada about Ducats.

Re: Ducats question

Fineness .986, actual gold weight .1107, 670.40 x .1107 = $74.22 Assuming correct weight and measurements I'd buy it.:bull-buddy-icon:http://www.wescottfamily.net/goldau.html

They are 0.11 oz AGW, so $75 is a good price, about $1 over spot. They are almost pure gold, 23 3/4 karat.

The 1915 1 and 4 ducat coins are all official re-strikes, so they are bullion without any numismatic value.

Edit: I can see that I was too late...

Edit 2: Anyway, I like these coins. They are quite good looking and I think they are among the nicest small fractionals.

Thanks to everybody. I had heard something about the restrike thing and it made me wonder, but I wasn't too clear why. Thanks again. It's definitely prettier than a Krugerrand. I'm gonna buy it tomorrow. :D
